headlineline Livid Goes to the Opera

San Jose, CA - July, 24th, 2008 - Livid Instruments is working with the Montalvo Arts Center and New York based Visual artist Lesley Dill on a new opera Divide Light, based upon the complete works of poet Emily Dickinson. Composed by Richard Marriott, founder of Club Foot Orchestra, Divide Light follows a dramatic and emotional contour, exploring a range of emotions from joy, ecstasy and fear to vulnerability and exhilaration. Livid’s Jay Smith and Peter Nyboer will be providing real-time video production for a stunning video installation that is the backdrop for the entire performance. Divide Light features lush performances by Del Sol String Quartet; the 45-voices of The Choral Project; Jennifer Goltz, soprano; Kathleen Moss, mezzo soprano; and Andrew Eisenmann, baritone.

Livid will be using their real-time hardware and software to bring an emotional and organic feel to the visuals. Livid’s technology will allow for a unmatched level of control to synchronize the visuals with the music, performance, and drama of the opera.
